Special Education Teacher (Self-Contained | Grades 9–10) –Washington, DC | $40–$45/hr | Full-Time | Immediate Backfill
Location: Washington, DC
Pay Rate: $40–$45 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Start Date: ASAP –Immediate Backfill Need
End Date: Through June 12th, 2026

Position Overview
Phaxis Education is now scheduling interviews for a Special Education Teacher to support a Self-Contained classroom (Grades 9–10) in Washington, DC. This is an urgent backfill opening, with an immediate start needed to maintain consistent classroom coverage and support.

We’re looking for an educator who is confident, structured, and committed to supporting students with more intensive learning and behavioral needs in a self-contained setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead instruction and classroom routines in a self-contained special education classroom for students in grades 9–10

  • Provide IEP-driven instruction aligned to academic, behavioral, and functional goals

  • Differentiate lessons and modify curriculum to meet student needs

  • Implement behavior supports and classroom management systems consistently

  • Collect and maintain documentation/data related to IEP goals and student progress

  • Collaborate with school leadership, support staff, families, and service providers

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student planning and compliance needs

  • Build a safe, structured classroom culture that supports learning and growth

Requirements

  • Preferred: Valid DC teaching license (or eligibility) –not required

  • Special Education certification preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field

  • Experience supporting students in a self-contained setting preferred

  • Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. Without sponsorship

  • Setting: Self-Contained Special Education Classroom

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

Drew Anson is Chief Delivery Officer at Phaxis, a Workforce Solutions Company based in New York.

Drew is a seasoned executive with more than 13 years of Services & Recruitment experience.
