Position Overview
Phaxis Education is seeking an experienced High School History or Social Science Teacher to join a dynamic team in Washington, DC.
This is a 0.5 FTE (part-time) role offering a steady schedule through the end of the school year —ideal for a teacher who thrives in structured yet flexible environments.

The school is undergoing an exciting phase of restructuring under new leadership. Candidates should be confident, independent educators with strong classroom management skills and a passion for engaging diverse learners in inclusive Gen Ed settings.

Position Details

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Schedule: Alternating weekly schedule

    • Weeks 1 & 3: 16 hours per week

    • Weeks 2 & 4: 20 hours per week

  • Grades: 9–12

  • Caseload: High School History and/or Social Science

  • Class Type: General Education (some integrated 504 students)

  • Interview: Virtual or onsite;candidates may be asked to present sample curriculum during onsite interview

  • Contract Length: Through June 2026

  • Virtual/Hybrid: Onsite only

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching History or Social Science at the high school level

  • Strong classroom management and engagement strategies

  • DC teaching certification preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or related field

  • Not a fit for new graduates —autonomy and classroom experience required
