As a K–12 School-Based Behavior Specialist in Charleston, SC, your days will include:
  • Conducting and supporting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) in collaboration with school psychologists and multidisciplinary teams to identify behavioral functions and contributing factors.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned with IEP goals, student needs, district guidelines, and state standards.
  • Delivering direct behavioral support and instruction to students in individual, small-group, and classroom settings to strengthen social, emotional, and self-regulation skills.
  • Implementing evidence-based behavior management strategies, positive behavior supports, and de-escalation techniques to address challenging behaviors.
  • Providing crisis intervention support and assisting with the implementation of individualized crisis plans to ensure student and staff safety.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting behavioral data to track student progress and inform instructional and intervention adjustments.
  • Collaborating with general education teachers, special educators, counselors, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student access to the general curriculum.
  • Providing consultation, coaching, and training to school staff on behavior strategies, classroom management, and data collection practices.
  • Participating in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to share assessment data and behavioral recommendations.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation related to assessments, interventions, service minutes, and compliance requirements.
  • Integrating technology to support data collection, communication, and student engagement.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives to support inclusive school climates and multi-tiered systems of support.
Job Details:
  • Position: Contracted Behavior Specialist
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours (Monday - Friday)
  • Assignment Type: Self-contained classrooms with focus on behavioral support needs

Successful Candidates Possess:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, ABA, or related field.
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral and emotional needs in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of FBAs, BIPs, and evidence-based behavior intervention strategies.
  • Strong data collection, documentation, and progress-monitoring skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation (CPI or equivalent), or willingness to obtain.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Drew Anson is Chief Delivery Officer at Phaxis, a Workforce Solutions Company based in New York.

Drew is a seasoned executive with more than 13 years of Services & Recruitment experience. In that time, he has supported numerous Fortune 100/500/1000 organizations across industries by providing global workforce solutions, namely resources and thought leadership for large-scale projects, implementations, and managed services.

Prior to joining Phaxis predecessor firm Park Hudson in 2021, Drew spent three years at engineering technology and talent solutions firm, Collabera, as Director of Sales in North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Insight Global, most recently as Sales Manager of the Columbus, OH office.

He holds a degree from Central Michigan University in Sales & Marketing.
