Special Education Teacher –Contract Position

Phaxis is seeking two qualified Special Education Teachers to join our team in Pelham, NY, supporting preschool-aged students (ages 3–5) in a center-based special education program. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment for the remainder of the 2024–2025 school year, ESY, and through the 2025–2026 academic year.

Position Details:
Title: Contract School-Based Special Education Teacher
Location: Pelham, NY
Caseload: Preschool students (ages 3–5) with developmental and learning needs
Duration: Through June 2026 (2024–2025, ESY, and 2025–2026 academic year)
Schedule: 30 hours/week, Monday–Friday
Work Setting: 100% On-site (remote learning is not an option)
Pay Range: Competitive market rate

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specially designed instruction to meet the individual needs of students as outlined in their IEPs

  • Adapt and modify curriculum to support diverse learning styles and developmental levels

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including speech therapists, OTs, PTs, and paraprofessionals

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student progress monitoring and documentation

  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student growth and independence

Requirements:

  • Valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2) or Special Education

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners with disabilities
