Job Description


Title: Special Education Teacher 
Location: Waukegan, Illinois

Phaxis Education is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for an elementary school caseload (K–5th grade) in Waukegan, IL. This is a school-based contract position with the option to renew. We’re hiring passionate educators who are committed to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for students with diverse needs.

This opportunity is ideal for Special Education Teachers looking for consistent support, a collaborative school team, and a meaningful role in helping students reach their full potential.

Special Education Teacher Job Details:

  • Job Type: Onsite 

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, full-time

  • Caseload: Grades K–5

  • Setting: Onsite in a public school

Special Education Teacher Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required)

  • Active or pending Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (or eligibility)

  • Experience in a school or pediatric setting is preferred

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)

  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply

Special Education Teacher Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEP-aligned instructional strategies tailored to individual student goals

  • Modify curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs

  • Foster a structured, supportive classroom environment using positive behavior interventions

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to ensure student success

  • Track and report student progress through assessments, data collection, and documentation

  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team planning

  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Illinois State Board of Education guidelines, and district policies

Drew Anson is Chief Delivery Officer at Phaxis, a Workforce Solutions Company based in New York.

Drew is a seasoned executive with more than 13 years of Services & Recruitment experience. In that time, he has supported numerous Fortune 100/500/1000 organizations across industries by providing global workforce solutions, namely resources and thought leadership for large-scale projects, implementations, and managed services.

Prior to joining Phaxis predecessor firm Park Hudson in 2021, Drew spent three years at engineering technology and talent solutions firm, Collabera, as Director of Sales in North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Insight Global, most recently as Sales Manager of the Columbus, OH office.

He holds a degree from Central Michigan University in Sales & Marketing.
