Job Title: School Social Worker –Elementary Grades (K–5)
Location: Waukegan, Illinois
Hours: Full and Part-time positions available

School Social Worker Position Overview:

  • Job Type: Full-time and part-time contract with renewal potential

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday during school hours or 3 days a week!

  • Caseload: Elementary students (Kindergarten through 5th grade)

  • Setting: Public school, onsite in Waukegan, IL

School Social Worker Candidate Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW required)

  • Active or pending Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) with School Social Worker endorsement

  • Previous school-based experience preferred

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)

  • New graduates with pending licensure are encouraged to apply

School Social Worker Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide social-emotional and behavioral support to students in grades K–5

  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students’emotional and behavioral needs

  • Develop and implement behavior intervention strategies in collaboration with school staff

  • Support IEP development and participate in multidisciplinary meetings

  • Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community services

  • Respond to crisis situations including trauma, bullying, and family-related issues

  • Help promote a positive school climate and student mental wellness

  • Maintain documentation in compliance with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) guidelines and federal IDEA requirements
