Position Overview

As a full-time Special Education Teacher in the Washington, DC area, you’ll deliver targeted instructional services and interventions that help students with diverse learning needs reach their academic, social, and emotional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individualized Instruction: Design, implement, and monitor differentiated lesson plans and IEP goals tailored to each student’s strengths and challenges.

  • Inclusive Classroom Management: Create a supportive classroom climate—using evidence-based strategies, assistive technology, and positive behavior supports—to foster engagement and growth.

  • Progress Monitoring: Collect, analyze, and report data on student performance;adjust instruction and interventions to maximize learning outcomes.

  • Collaboration: Partner with general education teachers, related-service providers, families, and administrators to co-plan lessons, accommodate curricula, and ensure consistency across settings.

  • IEP Development & Compliance: Lead and actively participate in IEP meetings, 504 planning, and multidisciplinary team discussions;maintain thorough documentation in accordance with district and state regulations.

  • Professional Advocacy: Serve as a student advocate—coordinating with community agencies, counseling staff, and families to secure additional supports and resources as needed.

Job Details

  • Position Type: Full-time, contract role in a school setting (option to extend into the 2025–2026 school year based on mutual interest)

  • Hours: 25–40+ hours per week, aligned with district calendar and student schedules

  • Caseload: K–12 students with identified special education needs, assignments based on district priorities

What You Bring

  • Credentials: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required);teaching certification in Special Education (State of DC or reciprocal)

  • Experience: Prior experience in K–12 special education, co-teaching, or inclusion settings (preferred)

  • Skills: Strong lesson-planning and differentiation skills, excellent classroom management, and collaborative communication style

  • Authorization: Eligible to work in the U.S. Without sponsorship

Drew Anson is Chief Delivery Officer at Phaxis, a Workforce Solutions Company based in New York.

In this role, Drew leads the delivery and recruiting working closely with the leadership team to define a model that is efficient at supporting the firm s current needs and is scalable for future growth.

Drew is a seasoned executive with more than 13 years of Services & Recruitment experience. In that time, he has supported numerous Fortune 100/500/1000 organizations across industries by providing global workforce solutions, namely resources and thought leadership for large-scale projects, implementations, and managed services.

Prior to joining Phaxis predecessor firm Park Hudson in 2021, Drew spent three years at engineering technology and talent solutions firm, Collabera, as Director of Sales in North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Insight Global, most recently as Sales Manager of the Columbus, OH office.

He holds a degree from Central Michigan University in Sales & Marketing.
